Frederiksborg Castle

Located north of Copenhagen, Frederiksborg Castle is lauded for its breathtaking silhouette, seen on the previous page. The former royal residence, erected by King Christian IV in the early seventeenth century, is nestled atop three islands in a lake and was named for his father, Frederik II, who had built an original structure on this site.
