Five Creative Tips from Artisan Stephanie Monahan

Showcasing Heritage
“I have always saved letters, stamps, and ephemera,” Stephanie says. Over the years, she became the curator of family photographs and correspondence from as far back as the 1700s. This treasury also blossomed to include antique illustrations, sheet music, and other sundries. “I started collecting anything that tickled my fancy,” she says, “realizing the intrinsic value that nostalgia has in art and design.” Although Stephanie uses other precious items in her handcrafts, she never cuts or mars family memorabilia. She recommends digitally scanning these pieces so the originals can be tucked away for posterity.
