Crown Jewels of the GardenNear the garden’s center, the 3.5-acre lake designed by William Townsend Aiton under George IV’s reign lies among overgrown vegetation ideal for nearly thirty species of nesting waterfowl and flourishing meadow plants. A central island, accessed by two  stone bridges, matured into a wildlife sanctuary and is home to the property’s five beehives.
