
Summer delights abound here, and though boating plays a major role in Newport’s outdoor activities, there are plenty of other equally enjoyable diversions. Dating to 1654, Thames Street’s original purpose was to provide access to waterfront wharfs. Best experienced on foot, it is the city’s main thoroughfare and the hub of activity, with lots of intriguing shopping and dining options.
