Commissioned by Edmond Möller in 1863, the castle’s exterior resembles Renaissance-era structures like those found in the Loire Valley. Though the edifice is less than two-hundred years old, it was built on the ruins of a fortified château built in 1466 with royal permissions from King Louis XI.
To honor its unique history, the Goises have restored the grounds and buildings in period-appropriate splendor. The four outbuildings, once former stables and coach houses, now run as holiday lets to visitors of the region, and a Georgian-style canvas marquee hosts destination weddings and community events. “We are very much at the beginning of our restoration story,” says Erin. “Every wedding, retreat, and holiday stay directly funds the maintenance and restoration of the château.”
