When Josephine’s husband passed away in 1994, she remained in the spacious quarters where they’d raised their family, but she longed for a place that indulged her love of all things French and offered the perfect backdrop for her cache of Gallic décor. Some years later, she came upon her current residence, with its mansard roof, high ceilings, and unusual U-shaped layout, and she was instantly smitten. After learning this dream-come-true was designed by the acclaimed architectural firm of Henry Sprott Long & Associates—Sprott had been a family friend—and built by her son-in-law, Price McGiffert, she knew it was meant to be hers.
