Being more than two hundred years old and located so close to the salt and moisture of the English Channel meant the house had been affected by humidity. Timber floors, joists, clay tiles, and brickwork were all impacted and needed major work. “When it was stripped back,” Geraldine exclaims, “all that was left were the four walls—not even a roof!”
