My 100 Year Old Home: Tips for Creating Welcoming Interiors

Leslie Saeta’s family room is flooded with natural light that adds even more of a bright and airy feel to the space decorated in creams and whites. The sofa and nearby chair are decorated with pink gingham throw pillows that create a comfortable sitting area.Change with the times

Leslie believes a home should evolve with the people who live there. After raising three active sons and numerous family pets, she uses slipcovers on her living room furniture that allow for quick cleanings. Paint shades and fabrics in muted tones provide the perfect canvas for seasonal color, like rosy pink in the summer and amber hues as autumn approaches.

When refreshing a room, think carefully about its purpose and where the “anchor” is positioned. If your family uses a room for movie nights, make sure plenty of comfortable seating options are available. Most importantly, make sure the space is livable and a reflection of the family that calls it home.
