Busatti is a family business to its very core, with eight generations taking turns at the helm. Mario devoted his life to the company, and, upon his death in 1868, control passed to his three sons, including Giuseppe, whose own sons, Gregorio and Livio, contributed greatly to Busatti’s growth and reputation. Upon learning that local men did not want their wives working outside the home, Livio built more than a hundred looms, allowing the ladies to earn a living from their own residences—an arrangement that benefitted both the weavers and Busatti itself. Down through the years, several female family members have headed the operations. In one instance, Giovanni Busatti, along with his sister Elena and mother, Francesca, led the company to global prominence.
