Carraway opened up the foyer, and the front-porch- turned-music-room was restored to its original purpose. All parties were intent on maintaining the 1920s integrity—even when matching plaster for a small addition took two weeks to perfect and replacement tiles required the purchase of an entire roof from an old school in Florida.
Carraway advised the Briggs’s in the planning stages to allot a portion of their renovation budget for furnishing the interiors. Steve joked that he wanted to decorate with “early attic.”
