Fruitful Finds

Charlottesville, Virginia
On Carter Mountain in Charlottesville, Virginia, Carter Mountain Orchard is rich with history—and apples. Situated on land that once belonged to Thomas Jefferson, the orchard has expanded its pick-your- own section of apple trees to meet the growing demand. Don’t miss the apple-cider donuts.

St. Joseph, Missouri
Nestled on bluffs overlooking the Missouri River, Schweizer Orchards grows an extensive selection of apples. Beginning in mid-September, Schweizer offers Empire, Golden Delicious, Jonagold, Red Delicious, and Suncrisp. Braeburn, Enterprise, Fuji, and York are available in mid-October. A produce market features fresh fruits and specialty items.

Kimberly, Oregon
The first commercial orchard in this part of Oregon was established in the 1930s along the fertile north bank of the John Day River in Kimberly. From mid-August until the end of October, visitors can pick or shop, choosing from varieties like Earli Blaze, Gravenstein, Akane, Criterion, Granny Smith, Pink Lady, and Fuji, among others.

  1. I am abundantly blessed with God’s slideshow of breathtaking colour in the Autumn months. New England is such a beautiful place to be to see His artistry and I am so happy to have had yet another wonderful Autumn to experience and see this spectacular colour. While all of my maples have already shed their leaves, there are still other trees which are alive with reminders of the season.

Autumn has always been my favourite season and the coolness of the days along with the colours create a time for reflection and thanksgiving for all the year has brought me.

Yes, I am very blessed to live in New England !
