Balmoral
When Queen Victoria made her inaugural visit to Scotland in 1842, she was immediately captivated by the country’s bucolic beauty. Six years later, her husband presented her with the Balmoral property. The original edifice was deemed too small and was replaced with this resplendent castle, completed in 1856. It served as a rustic retreat from their regal duties—a haven that has been enjoyed by succeeding generations of royals.
