Whether Victoria readers remember Lesley Holmes from her first tenure in 1998 or are meeting her for the first time, our 2022 Artist-in-Residence is sure to enchant with her winsome paintings depicting the English country life she loves so dearly. “I have always painted since I can remember,” relates Lesley, who was born in Zambia and moved to the United Kingdom when she was eight. After spending a year in California as a nanny, she returned home to England and paid heed to a persistent inner voice urging her to follow her artist’s path. Lesley’s charming works capture the quaint countryside scenes found from the Cotswolds to Cornwall, where she and her husband live on a small holding brimming with ducks, geese, sheep, and other animals that often appear in her art.
