French Quarter Curios: Keil’s Antiques

A pair of matching chairs sit on either side of a splendorous table, lit by the glow of a grand chandelier.Morris and Margaret’s daughter Andrée Moss, who runs Keil’s Antiques alongside her two sons, Peter and Keil, does much of the purchasing today. She considers her family blessed to have had so many generations passionately involved in the business—a dedication that has allowed it to endure for so long. The staff are quite the same, with many remaining for decades, doing what they love. But it is the quality of Keil’s wares that Andrée truly credits with lasting success. “We scour the markets just to find exceptional things,” she says. In good condition, even items a hundred and fifty years old have relevance.
