Longtime Francophiles, the Jordans originally dreamed of pursuing a life among the vines overseas. Sally remembers vividly the moment she and her husband realized they could fulfill their aspirations here in the United States. While dining in San Francisco one evening in autumn 1971, a favorite sommelier encouraged the couple to sample a California Sauvignon. Although they agreed reluctantly, skepticism turned to delight when the bottle far exceeded their expectations. “Now we really had the possibility of a beautiful Bordeaux-style wine being made in this country,” Sally says. Within a few years of those first sips, the pair developed their own inaugural Cabernet Sauvignons and Chardonnays.

Wonderful article. I will be going to Northern California this summer and will certainly stop by to see the Jordan Vineyard. Thank you
We have enjoyed Victoria magazine for several years, and while we have traveled in France on many locations, and enjoy seeing the articles, we are more interested in travels suggested in the U.S. for that reason, the exclusion of US locales, we are not re-newing our subscription. Dr. and Mrs. Mize.
Have read your magazine for many years, it is still the only one I subscribe to.
Keep up the wonderful stories etc. and the photographs, travels across the world are most interesting. I love the recipes and artists you bring the world to us and local tributes as well. I’m a fan forever !!!
Sincerely, VCrow
I have loved and read Victoria from the very beginning; I have saved every single issue and pull them out every month and look at them again. Never, never, never go away.
I discovered the Cottage Journal and am doing the same thing!. Love both of them.
