After spending years amid the skyscrapers of New York City, Kelli became enthralled with horticulture when she married Mark in 2011 and moved to Maple Shade, which he has owned for 27 years. While both are avid gardeners, they ascribe to very different aesthetics. “Mark designed his gardens and I designed mine,” she says, smiling. “We do not interfere with each other’s gardens—ever.” Though her husband leans toward bold primary hues, Kelli prefers softer pastels; he loves red roses, bee balm, and astilbe, while she adores delphinium, foxglove, and lavender. The contrasting genres make for an enchanting mélange of color and fragrance that is pleasing to both.
