Just a stone’s throw away from Hill Top in England’s Lake District, a winding lane leads to Castle Cottage, once the home and farm of the legendary Beatrix Potter. With fourteen illustrated books and a line of stationery, author and artist Susan Branch has, in many ways, followed in her heroine’s footsteps.

What a lovely article in the September issue and also very ironic too – I was in the midst of reading “The Tale of Castle Cottage” by Susan W. Albert when I received my subscriber copy of Victoria ! The book is modeled after Beatrix Potter and her life in Near Sawrey !
Susan Branch has written multiple books but I admit to reading only one of them and it was more of a travelogue diary (Falling in Love with The English Countryside) which I enjoyed immensely and would love to read more of her work !
I can think of nothing more enjoyable than a good and proper picnic in the English countryside complete with a Fortnum and Mason wicker hamper, tartan wool throws, and wonderful sausage rolls or Cornish Pasties to enjoy while soaking in the glorious surroundings !
This calls for a pot of tea so I must sign off now to enjoy the wonderful mood this article brought me as well as ALL the articles in this September British issue.
God bless !
