A Table for All Seasons: Ten Favorite Tablescapes

Glorious green and gold adorn this glowing table setting, where elegant tableware, candles, and evergreen boughs add details of Yuletide splendor.

Shades of green and glimpses of glittering gold bathe this Yuletide celebration in unmatched splendor. Atop this table, treasures fit for the finest festivities await, while gifts rest hidden in velvet stockings on the hearth or placed beneath the tree until Christmas morn. The star of the setting is Spode’s Christmas Tree Gold place setting, a 22-karat variation on the classic pattern. Votive candles light it aglow alongside Kate Spade flatware and Iittala white wine glasses collected from One Kings Lane.

  1. The favourite room in my home is the dining room where all the interaction is! I tend to go for the more formal tablesettings with fine bone china, sterling flatware, crystal, and crisp white embroidered linens. A medium sized floral arrangement, candles, and plenty of sterling items fit for any/all purposes flourish.

I always strive to have my dining table look akin to something from Downton Abbey – the more English and more formal – the better!

Casual dining al fresco is far less formal and more themed around the season or given holiday. My terrace is small, but the table seats 4 comfortably and with a small table nearby for hosting food or drinks, it makes for a delightful and comfortable setting for all my friends!

I hope Victoria will consider making an upcoming “Classics” issue all about tablescapes and dining venues! That would be wonderful !!

    God bless !
