Resplendent Harvest Decorations

Seasons Grace

After the harvest, amidst amber fields, sprawling orchards, and towering trees ablaze in hues of crimson, saffron, and plum, a gathering table equally as brilliant is likely to emerge. Here, anchored on a canvas of the deepest midnight blue, the most evocative shades of autumn steal the show.

Befitting the warm glow of autumn, Mottahedah’s Sacred Bird and Butterfly porcelain emulates the original Chinese export pattern outlined in gleaming gold. A blue embroidered-linen napkin is wrapped in both pleated grosgrain and velvet ribbon from Mokuba and finished with a single wheat sheaf and a place card personalized with handwritten calligraphy.

Other found objets d’art pulled in to mingle with this distinguished pastoral setting include a Matignon Rust Limoges porcelain cup and saucer from Haviland & Parlon. Jewellike clusters of fall foliage, flowers, and berries arranged in vintage copper containers dress a family table in robust seasonal splendor. Bougainvilleas, ranunculus, dahlias, mums, artichokes, berry-laden stems, and red-orange persimmons and maple leaves display a poetic composition of texture, color, and glorious abundance.

A cache of well-hunted finds—from rustic Americana to polished Old-World antiquities—captures the sentiment of gracious entertaining so often attributed to the season. The gracefully distressed pine hutch, showcases a medley of English blue-and-white transferware collected by way of many treks to Texas’s famed Round Top Antiques Fair.
