Although the Little House volumes chronicle the westward pilgrimage of the Ingalls family, the final chapter of Laura’s life unfolded at Rocky Ridge. In 1894, she and her husband, Almanzo, traveled by covered wagon to the Ozarks and used their savings of $100 to buy 40 acres of land. That investment grew to 200 acres flourishing with poultry, orchards, and a dairy.
