Open-Faced Caprese Tea Sandwiches

Cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, balsamic glaze, and basil meet atop white bread to create our Open-Faced Caprese Tea Sandwiches.

Open-Faced Caprese Tea Sandwiches
 
Makes 6 servings
Ingredients
  • 6 slices white bread, frozen
  • 1 (9-ounce) container cherry tomatoes
  • 1 (8-ounce) package sliced fresh mozzarella
  • Balsamic glaze *, for topping
  • Extra-virgin olive oil, for topping
  • Flaky sea salt, for topping
  • Garnish: fresh basil, cracked black pepper
Instructions
  1. Using a 2-inch square cutter, cut out 2 pieces from each slice of bread.
  2. Using a mandoline, slice tomatoes into ⅛-inch-thick slices. Using a 1-inch round cutter, cut 2 circles from each slice of mozzarella. Slice each 1-inch circle in half to make 2 (⅛-inch thick) circles.
  3. Shingle tomatoes and mozzarella on each slice. Drizzle with balsamic glaze and extra-virgin olive oil. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt; garnish with basil and cracked pepper, if desired.
