Victoria is pleased to welcome to its pages Patti Callahan Henry and Carolina Elizabeth, whose passion for storytelling and exquisitely rendered paintings promise a year of bountiful inspiration.
Writer-in-Residence: Patti Callahan Henry
An impassioned storyteller known for her evocative contemporary and historical fiction, New York Times best-selling writer Patti Callahan Henry is the author of eighteen titles, including her latest, The Story She Left Behind. Patti’s work has been translated into twenty languages and has appeared in numerous anthologies, short story collections, and periodicals. She has been the recipient of The Christy Award for “Book of the Year” and The Harper Lee Award for Alabama’s Distinguished Writer. In addition to writing, Patti is also a popular speaker and is co-creator and host of Friends & Fiction, a weekly web show and podcast. Prior to penning novels, Patti channeled her gift for observation into a career as a clinical nurse specialist in pediatrics. She resides in Mountain Brook, Alabama, with her husband, Pat.
Artist-in-Residence: Carolina Elizabeth
Carolina Elizabeth is a talented multidisciplinary artist known for luminous oil paintings depicting nature’s splendor. With deft brushstrokes, Carolina brings profusions of roses to life, alongside a host of other blooms, precocious animals, and carefully composed tableaus. Her artwork has appeared in previous issues of Victoria as well as in our books Living with Roses, Our Hearts Are in England, and Gracious Home: Cultivating a Spirit of Welcome. In addition to painting, Carolina is also a skilled potter, crafting charming vases, cachepots, and planters. In college, she earned a degree in fine arts and spent a number of years teaching humanities and art. She makes her home in Edmond, Oklahoma, and enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters.
