Though she arrived as a renter, Anna quickly determined to purchase Pytts House, and after relentless entreaties, the owners finally agreed to a sale. She was then able to make fundamental changes to the property, erasing traces of its prior life as a neglected rental. Worn carpets were lifted to reveal broad floorboards in the sitting room and parquet floors in the dining room. Anna needed only to sand them down to reveal their former warmth and shine.
