Fall Decor

For man, autumn is a time of harvest, of gathering together. For nature, it is a time of sowing, of scattering abroad.” –Edwin Way Teale

Relish this glorious season by surrounding yourself with the rich colors and bountiful delights autumn has to offer.

Harvest the colors of autumn to add elegance to your décor. Stacking pumpkins in an array of hues lends vibrancy and interest to exteriors. Simply arrange lengths of straw and multicolored berries around the base for a finished touch.

A rustic table features a stylish display that showcases the bounty of fall. Wide, flat heirloom varieties, such as the showy orange ‘Cinderella’, work well for base layers in creating a stack of pumpkins. These, combined with complementary fall accents such as ornamental squashes and gourds and containers of foliage, bittersweet, and cabbage make for classic appeal.

Adorn your home with florals, berries, and foraged finds. Blue-and-white china, a pewter tea service, an antique pitcher, and a copper bowl mingle compatibly to display the bounty of the season.

In the fall, nature is brimming with décor inspiration. Brightly colored foliage can be used in a multitude of ways. Left: Faded green berries and papery seedpods are delicate decorations on an antique bottle with a tea-stained name card. The bottles can serve both as place cards for the table and keepsakes at the end of the meal. Right: Individual leaves can be used as a striking embellishment for a makeshift napkin ring made from a length of waxed twine.

Celebrate the resplendent bounty of an autumn garden with a stunning arrangement of vibrantly hued dahlias, artichokes, seedpods, and berries. Place in a copper vessel and surround with miniature gourds to create a seasonal showstopper.

To take full advantage of waning autumn days, add warmth with the flickering glow of candlelight and with arrangements of natural elements. Left: Anywhere they are placed, small copper candlestick holders, pictured here with a plump persimmon, add depth and refinement. Right: Decorating for the outdoors can be as easy as gathering the eye-catching offerings of nature wherever you find them. Here, apothecary jars hold vibrant treasures.
