
A deconstructed approach to chocolate-covered cherries, a popular confectionery originating in the eighteenth century, Cherry Cordial Cups showcase a silken amaretto filling, white chocolate shavings, and stemmed maraschino cherries in a tulip-shaped chocolate cup—an altogether satisfying holiday dessert.
Cherry Cordial Cups

Ingredients
- ¼ cup plus 2 tablespoons water
- ¼ cup amaretto liqueur
- 2 teaspoons unflavored gelatin
- 16 ounces white chocolate, chopped
- 4 cups cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- ⅔ cup confectioners’ sugar
- 2 teaspoons cherry extract
- 12 tulip-shaped chocolate cups
- Garnish: white chocolate shavings, maraschino cherries
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, add ¼ cup plus 2 tablespoons water, liqueur, and gelatin; whisk to combine. Bring mixture just to a boil over medium heat; remove from heat, add white chocolate, and whisk until smooth. Set aside to let cool.
- Using a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat cream cheese at medium-high speed until smooth, about 3 minutes. Add cream, confectioners’ sugar, and cherry extract; beat until combined. Add cooled white chocolate mixture, and beat until combined.
- Spoon into a pastry bag fitted with a round piping tip; pipe into chocolate cups. Garnish with white chocolate shavings and maraschino cherries, if desired.
