Description

For the days of blue skies and brisk beginnings, Victoria’s September/October issue overflows with a double portion of Great Britain’s incomparable beauty. Wending our way across Wales, we visit a dreamy turreted haven overlooking the Dyfi Estuary and stroll along colorful pathways in Aberglasney Gardens. Pausing in the Welsh capital, we marvel at the honeycombed ceilings and hand-painted murals of Cardiff Castle. Further afield, we immerse ourselves in the luxuries of a historic hotel set “among the thistles” and Plas Dinas Country House, a boutique hotel once occupied by Princess Margaret. Castle Coch also captures our imaginations with ceilings that literally seem to soar and walls that portray scenes from well-known fables. Moving on, we slip over to a quaint cottage in the Cotswolds to revel in quiet pursuits and the burnished beauty of the region. Naturally, no trip to the island nation would be complete without a fashionable outing in London, where we venture to the ateliers of a shoemaker, a milliner, and a clothier known for the most regal designs. Finally, we offer inspiration for a dinner celebrating early autumn’s bounty as well as sweet and savory pie recipes perfect for sharing throughout the season.
